As you likely know, there are a variety of tools online for those who manage their own website and want to assess its strengths and weaknesses. You can use these different tools to assist you in deciding on what, if anything, needs to be changed on your website pages, and some of them will in fact provide suggestions/strategies for improvement. That being said, no tool is the “end-all”, these can help get you focused on what’s important, but I would be careful about making drastic changes to your site until you are sure that the suggestions provided from a tool are best for your business website since a tool may not take into account a variety of other factors that can benefit or decrease a website’s online ranking.
Firstly, if you are not familiar with webconf’s site I encourage you to visit it. They have a variety of nice tools available, and I’ve included links to my favorites following.

Ok, so of all the tool options, one I always look for is a good keyword density checker. This is important since a site’s targeted keywords need to be in evidence on the page, metatags, titles, etc. That being said, the keyword density of a page is not as important as it once was in SEO (page titles, heading tags, and links are weighted more) but it still matters. I’ve included a couple of good keyword density checkers next, but again, be aware that a checker of just a page won’t provide the same results as one that checks a page and metatags.

The next thing I suggest checking is your website’s online ranking in Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Unfortunately I can’t really offer online tools to help with this since the one’s I have evaluated either don’t work, or they want you to register with them (so that they can try to sell you their service). In either case, my suggestion is to do a keyword search in the above three using the the words you think someone would type in to find you. I also like to use different browsers for this, so try it in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Chrome to ensure that your site gets the same ranking in each. If you find that you are not ranked well for a keyword group that you should be, this is where you will need to look at your page content, page titles, and metatags to ensure that the words are applied effectively.
Of course there are lots of other tools as well, such as for viewing your website in mobile or checking the effectiveness of your social media presence, so my suggestion is to search a bit until you find a collection of tools that work for you; and as always, if you need development assistance feel free to contact me.
